Bicycle Assembly & Repair Technician

Whether you're a beginner, intermediate or advanced cycling enthusiast, NWACC's unique location within Northwest Arkansas and along the Missouri trailhead offers you access to affordable, industry-recognized bicycle technician training that can enhance your hobby or put you on the trail to a career in the cycling industry.

In a year's time, you can earn a Bicycle Industry Employers Association (BIEA) - accredited certification in bicycle assembly and repair and gain skills in bicycle mechanics, wheel repair and assembly, bearing and suspension systems, service department operations, electric bikes and more. 

But your training doesn't have to brake at a technical certificate. NWACC offers pathways to earn an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology, which can easily transfer to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and be applied toward a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership or Operations and Logistics - which can be earned online.

NWACC offers a technical certificate in bicycle assembly and repair and an AAS in general technology, as well as transfer options to pursue a bachelor's degree. View the information below to learn more about the academic path that best fits your career goals.

Careers Paths:

Technical Certificate in Bicycle Assembly and Repair
As a certified technician, you’ll have skills in assembling and repairing bicycles, as well as critical thinking, problem solving and customer service which can prepare you for entry-level technician jobs within the cycling industry such as in retail, manufacturing, and engineering technology.

Associate of Applied Science in General Technology
All certificate course credits can be applied toward an Associate of Applied Science in General Technology. The degree can be customized to meet your industry-specific career goals such as specializing in bike mechanics, electrical instrumentation, HVAC, plumbing, solar energy, manufacturing, horticulture, computer aided design and more. After taking 15 hours of general education credits, 45 hours of coursework can be dedicated to technician training in a variety of technical areas.

Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership
Your Associate of Applied Science in General Technology can be easily transferred to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and applied toward a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership. This degree path draws upon your knowledge of many disciplines, including leadership, social sciences, technology and communication, and prepares you for success in leadership roles in emerging global, corporate, government and industrial environments. This bachelor’s degree can be earned all online, offering you the flexibility to pursue it while maintaining employment.

Bachelor of Science in Operations and Logistics
Your Associate of Applied Science in General Technology can be easily transferred to the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and applied toward a Bachelor of Science in Operations and Logistics. On this degree path, you’ll learn how to improve efficiencies in logistics, procurements, distribution, and sourcing, and address the management of relationships with stakeholders. This bachelor’s degree can be earned all online, offering you the flexibility to pursue it while maintaining employment.

Community Classes and Workshops

NWACC's Bicycle Maintenance Community Classes are designed for those wanting to learn essential bicycle maintenance skills. Classes are typically one day and last a few hours.
