NorthWest Arkansas Community College

Drama Department

Mission Statement:Lysistrata

NWACC Drama Department provides opportunities for students to participate in drama, regardless of previous experience.  Participants do not have to be theatre majors.

The Department presents plays not just to entertain, but to educate, and to give the performers and audience an opportunity to experience something they may not have the possibility to experience in real life.

Although the Department’s goal is to present a quality, college level play performance, the focus is on the “learning” process of the students involved in the production.  The NWACC Drama Department presents a variety of plays from classic to contemporary.

VENUE:

  • In addition to published plays, NWACC has produces original scripts written by local playwrights.
  • Each spring semester NWACC’s Creative Dramatics course produces an original children’s theatre production and travels to local public schools for performance during the schedule class period.
  • The Department also offers a beginning acting class in which the students perform winning short plays from NWACC’s annual spring playwriting contest.

SCHOLARSHIPS:

NWACC students are eligible to apply for scholarships in drama.  Students do not have to be majoring in drama to apply for the scholarships but must take six hours of drama courses during the semester in which the scholarship is awarded.
