The program consists of 67-68 credit hours of course work in fire science technology, fire science administration, emergency medical services, occupational safety, and general education. Students may begin their program of study during any semester. Practical skills training will accompany Firefighter I and II, EMT-Basic, and the Hazardous Materials and Emergency Response courses. The Firefighter I and II courses will provide the basic skills required of an entry level firefighter. For those students who are career firefighters, transfer credit may be requested for Firefighter I and II, EMT-Basic, and other specific fire courses. Students also have the option of receiving 6 hours of elective credits for certain courses that were taken through the Arkansas Fire Academy.
