Learner Support Services - Financial Aid

Financial Aid Eligibility Requirements

To receive financial assistance a student must:

    1. Show financial need.

    2. Be enrolled in a program that leads to an associate’s degree, an eligible vocational Certificate or be in a transfer program that leads to a bachelor’s degree at another Institution.

    3. Maintain satisfactory academic progress according to the NWACC Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy.

    4. Not be in default on a student loan or owe a repayment on a Pell grant.

    5. Have a high school diploma or a General Educational Development Certificate (GED).

    6. Comply with selective service registration.

    7. Be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen.

    8. Have a valid Social Security Number.

To Apply for Need-based Financial Aid

To find out if you qualify for need-based financial aid, you must do the following:

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov as soon as you have completed your 2009 income tax return(s).

  2. When NWACC receives your Student Aid Report (SAR), you will be sent a request for information letter. Some of the items we may request are as follows:

    • Student/Spouse 2009 Federal income tax return, complete with all schedules and copies of W2s.
    • Students who were required to provide parent financial information on the FAFSA, must provide a copy of their parents’ 2009 Federal income tax return, complete with all schedules and copies of W2s for 2009.
    • A copy of your high school transcript or diploma or GED Certificate with a graduation date
    • An official academic transcript from each college or university you previously attended.
