Loan Information and Forms

NWACC participates in the Federal Family Educational Loan Program (FFELP).  This program offers subsidized Stafford loans to students with financial need according to their FAFSA information.  Unsubsidized Stafford loans are available to students regardless of financial need.  PLUS loans are available to parents who can demonstrate credit worthiness. 

STAFFORD LOANS

• Read Federal Student Loans
• Complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling at Mapping Your Future
• Select a lender
• For Spring 2009 and Summer 2009 print and complete 08-09 Loan Request Form
• For Fall 2009 and Spring 2010, print and complete 09-10 Lender Request Form
• Lender list is available at “Selecting Your Stafford Lender”.  You are not required to use one of these lenders
• Review annual and aggregate loan limits at “Stafford Loan Limits”.
• Check your NWACC e-mail for status update
• Web sites to sign MPN are available at “How to Sign Your Master Promissory Note”.  Attempting to sign the MPN before the loan is guaranteed can significantly delay loan disbursement.
• If you wish to cancel, reinstate or adjust a loan award, you must complete the Loan Cancellation/Adjustment form.

PLUS LOANS

Parents wishing to apply for a PLUS loan should complete the “PLUS Loan Information and School Certification Form”.  Parents may contact the lender for pre-approval; however, pre-approval is not required.  The student must be enrolled in at least six credit hours and must be making satisfactory academic progress towards a degree.  Completion of the FAFSA is not required for a PLUS loan.

ALTERNATIVE LOANS

Students who have educational expenses above the availability of Federal Student Aid may consider private loans.  All resources including veteran’s educational benefits, scholarships, grants, federal student loans and alternative loans may not exceed the Cost of Attendance (see Financial Aid Eligibility/Cost of Attendance).  More information about alternative loans is available in the “Alternative Loans” brochure.
