How much does it cost to attend NWACC?
The cost of going to NWACC varies. Where you live and how long you have lived there determine the cost per credit hour. The cost differs for in-district students (living in Bentonville or Rogers for at least 6 months), out-of-district students, and out-of-state students. Refer to pages 24-26 in our online catalog (PDF format) for a complete chart.

Are there any additional fees?
Yes. There is a $2 per credit hour student services. Additional fees are applicable if you take a class that has a lab, such as biology or introduction to computers. There is a fee if the class has an insurance fee, ex: allied health courses. Refer to pages 24-26 in our online catalog (PDF format) for complete details on fees.

Do I need to submit a transcript?
Official college transcript(s) and placement test scores are required for all college transfer students.

Do I have to provide proof of MMR immunization?
Yes, students born on or after January 1, 1957, must submit proof of MMR immunization.

Will all of my credits transfer?
It is recommended that students have official copies of transcripts from each college attended sent to the Admissions & Records Office. You must request a degree audit to determine what credits will be received. NWACC does not accept grades below a "C." Visit with an academic advisor in the Learner Development Center for assistance.

Where are my classes located?
NWACC classes are offered at many different locations around Northwest Arkansas. The two main facilities, the Burns Hall and East Campus are located in Bentonville and Rogers. Other classes are offered through out the surrounding areas. There is a map of the facilities used on page 2 of our online catalog (PDF format)and can be accessed by clicking on campus map link.

What campus activities does NWACC have?
NWACC has a variety of campus activities throughout the academic year. The Office of Campus Activities is responsible for coordinating these events, which are planned and implemented by students through their leadership involvement with the Student Ambassador and Activity Board (SAAB) and the registered student organizations.

Do I need to provide placement test scores?
Yes. If you have not successfully completed English Comp I and College Algebra, you will need to provide placement test scores. All test scores must have been taken within the past 5 years.

Where do I get an application?
Applications are available at the Burns Hall ( BH ) on the second floor at New Student Relations or can be downloaded by going to Admissions.

Get a job — be a tutor!
If you need a part-time job and want to help other students, consider being a tutor. Visit the Learning Lab, located in the Burns Hall , or check out NWACC's Tutor Program.

Can I work on campus?
Yes. If you qualify for financial aid, you may apply for a workstudy program or become a tutor and help other students. To find out more about work study positions, visit Career Center, located in the Burns Hall . If you want to be a tutor, visit the Learning Lab, located in the Burns Hall , or check out NWACC's Tutor Program.

I'm a veteran. Who do I talk to?
Military service veterans and sons, daughters, spouses, widows, and widowers of deceased or 100% disabled veterans should contact Chris Smith , Coordinator of Veterans' Affairs. His office is located in the Learner Development Center in the Student Center.

Eligible NWACC students may qualify for the "GI Bill", Vocational Rehabilitation, "War Orphans" and other types of VA assistance. Veterans using benefits should be aware of VA regulations governing academic standards. No payment of educational benefits will be made for auditing a course or for a course which is not used in computing graduation requirements.

When should I request a degree audit?
If you think you are ready to transfer, you may want to request a degree audit to see how close you are to completing an associate's degree. Stop by the Learner Development Center to speak with an academic advisor and to pick up a degree audit form. You may be closer than you think!

Do I need to complete an Associate's Degree before I transfer to another school?
We recommend that you complete an Associate's Degree before transferring to another school, it is an excellent way to meet an interim goal and give you higher education credentials. However, there are some exceptions. If you are unsure of what's best for you, stop by the Learner Development Center and visit with an academic advisor.

What is the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (ACT CAAP) test and when is it scheduled?
Arkansas ACT 874 of 1993 mandates an outcomes assessment for each student who has completed 45 credit hours. The CAAP is a 3-1/2 hour standardized exam that has been developed to assess college skills at or near the end of two years of college.

CAAP helps NWACC faculty determine how well its students perform compared to similar students in Arkansas and across the nation. The faculty study the results for students as a group to confirm program strengths and to identify areas that need to be improved.

Individual scores are kept confidential, but NWACC will send students their scores.

CAAP tests are scheduled during April and November. Contact the NWACC Testing Center (800-995-6922or 479-619-4317) for current deadlines, scheduling and handouts.

What are graduation requirements?
The following general degree requirements apply to any degree granted by NorthWest Arkansas Community College:

  1. Complete at least 15 semester hours in residence at NWACC.
  2. Present cumulative GPA of 2.0 out of a possible 4.0 in all courses submitted for graduation.
  3. Apply for graduation by completing an application and paying applicable fees. Applications are available at the Admissions and Records Office.
  4. Participate in the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency per Arkansas ACT 874 of 1993.
  5. Settle all financial obligations to satisfy the Business Office and have a clear account with the Library.
  6. Attend graduation rehearsal and ceremony.
  7. Deadline for accepting application for graduation is:
  • Fall – October 15
  • Spring – February 28
  • Summer – May 1

Spring commencement is held in May. If a student completes all degree requirements at the end of the following summer or fall semester, the student may request that his/her official transcript have the notation that all degree requirements have been met with the appropriate date stated

What's a graduation audit and when do I get one?
Graduation checks are completed one month prior to graduation. A student may present 62 or more semester hours of course work for degree credit. Graduation degree audit GPAs reflect only courses on the student's degree plan and completed at the end of the semester preceding the current semester.
