Why meet with an Advisor?

Academic advisors help you develop a plan to attain your educational and life goals. It is important that you be an active participant in planning your education. The ultimate responsibility for making life and educational decisions rests with you. We're just here to help!

Are you planning to earn a degree and enter the workforce immediately after graduating or do you plan to transfer credits earned at NWACC to a four year university? What university do you plan to transfer? Are you going to earn a degree from NWACC before transferring?

An academic advisor can help you:

Understand the difference between the degree offered at NWACC

Understand transfer requirements

Develop educational goals as they relate to careers

Develop short and long-term academic plans

Identify appropriate campus offices that can assist with study skills, tutoring, career counseling, financial aid, and official degree audits

Only first time entering students and students with special circumstances are required to meet with an academic advisor; however, all students are encouraged to meet with an academic advisor for assistance. Students who set goals and establish a plan for their education rather than enrolling in whatever is easy or looks good are more successful! Come see us!
