Transfer Services: Find out the specific courses you need to take here at NWACC. For example if you are planning to transfer to the University of Arkansas and want to major in Psychology, you can obtain a program to program guide that shows the specific classes that will transfer into that major.

College Catalog: Your College Catalog can answer a lot of your questions. Find course descriptions, degree requirements, student handbook, etc.

Academic Calendar: Find out drop and withdraw deadlines and more!

Discover your Major: It's ok to be undecided on a major for a while; however, it's important to explore different options and investigate careers and majors. You'll be more successful if you have a goal.

Graduation: Don't you want to walk across the stage and earn that diploma!

Calculating GPA

Always keep up with your grade point average. You need at least a 2.0 to graduate and you can’t transfer to most schools with less than a 2.0.

Also, an academic standing policy is coming soon. Make sure to not get placed on academic warning or be suspended from school.

Trying to determine what your GPA will be this term? To calculate your GPA you must know how many quality points you have earned. Quality points are determined by multiplying the grade point by the credit hour for each class. Points are as follows:

A=4

B=3

C=2

D=1

F=0

The last digit in your course number tells you how many credits you will earn. For example, MATH 1204 is a 4 credit hour course.

So, let’s say you are taking the following classes and expect the following grades:

Classes

Anticipated Grade

Calculation

Quality Points Earned

MATH 1204

C (2points)

4 X 2

8

PSYC 2003

A (4 points)

3 X 4

12

ENGL 1013

B (3 points)

3 X 3

9

CISQ 1103

B (3 points)

3 X 3

9

TOTAL

38

Now, you divide your quality points (38) by the number of credit hours you are taking (13):  38/13 = 2.92
