Online Advising: Registration Basics
1. Go to MY NWACC CONNECTION. (Forgot your USERNAME &/OR PASSWORD? Contact Student Help Desk at 479-619-4376).
2. Check your degree plan.
You should register for classes that are listed on your degree plan. If you take a college-level course that's
not part of your degree, you can probably count it as an elective. Need help? Ask An Advisor.
Some classes are offered every semester, while some are taught only in the spring or fall. Check the catalog and
plan ahead!
3. Search for classes you want to take.
We offer morning, afternoon, evening classes, and online classes. Weekends, too! When
you find a class that looks interesting, read the course description in
the college catalog to learn more about the class. If you find a class
that requires instructor consent, contact the instructor by email or phone
(find that info in the NWACC
Employee Phone/Email List). Once the instructor approves your request,
he or she will update your records by computer, and then you can register
for that class through EagleNet.
4. Consider your options.
Times, locations, and types of classes are just a few of the options
you need to consider. Do you want to take a class once a week? Twice?
Saturdays for the whole semester? How about online classes, or meeting once a week for just 8 weeks?
And don't forget to consider locations. We offer classes from Bella Vista
to Fayetteville, and from Gentry to Springdale. You'll find a map with course
locations on the back page of the Schedule of Classes. Remember to plan
plenty of time to safely drive between locations.
When you're searching for classes, consider both traditional classes
and distance learning courses. We offer telecourses, online classes, and
compressed video courses. Check the Schedule for more info. Most of these
classes require instructor consent and have limited enrollment, so don't
delay!
5. Check those pesky prerequisites.
A prerequisite is knowledge or skill that must be achieved before you
register for a class. Check the course description in the college catalog.
Warning: It's YOUR responsibilty to be sure all prerequisites are met.
If you register for a class you're not eligible for, and then fail the
course, you can't appeal your grade!
Not sure what you're eligible for? Check with an academic advisor in
the Learner Success Center.
6. Register for the class.
Access EagleNet and enter the 5-digit CRN (computer registration number)
that identifies the course you want by day and time. Check the EagleNet
registration brochure for a step-by-step walkthrough of the process.
7. Print your schedule.
There are three items you'll need to print: your student schedule by
day & time, your detail schedule, and your bill. Your day & time
schedule is in a handy calendar format--keep it in your notebook or planner
to help organize your day. Your detail schedule includes important information:
the CRN (you'll need that if you later decide to drop the class), instructor's
name, and the location of the class. You'll need to share this info with
the bookstore to make sure you get the right textbook, so keep this handy!
And you'll want a record of your bill for your records. (Some education
expenses can be tax deductible!)
8. Check in with eCashier.
You can set up a no-interest payment plan the same day you register for
classes. No more late fees, financial holds, or payment schedules to remember--how
cool is that?
9. Get your books, ID, etc.
Get your books at the campus bookstore or any retail location. Be sure
you're getting the right books--and the books and resource materials may
vary, so pay attention!
Student Ids are free and are available in the Library. You'll need one to check materials out of the library,
and you need to have it with you when you're on campus. Use it as local
restaurants, theaters, and stores--some offer student discounts! Plus, by showing your ID, you can ride the Ozark Transit Bus Service to and from school!
10. Go to class!
Yup, sounds obvious but the truth is that not going to class is the single
most common reasons students fail a class. So go to class and learn!
